Hi there,
(sorry for writing War and Peace)
I'm brand new to this and think this is a great website. I have litterallty just bought a van to try my first conversion. I bought a 93 Toyota Townace 2.0td auto. I have some big plans for it but obviously this is going to take me some time.
I'm planning on taking eight of us up country for a few days, so obviously I need some seats.
I have a driver and passenger seat there already as well as a '3 man' seat in the back. I got new seats from another townace in a scrapyard which are in really good nick and I want them in my van. Problems arose straight away...... The drivers seat was no problem apart from having to remove the plastic tray on the centre console so the armrest could fit. As for the passenger seat, it was a sliding seat (fwd/back) but the original seat was 'fixed' so I had to swop over the rails so now I have fitted the new seat but it is fixed. The sliding runners didn't seem to fit but maybe i'm missing something so if anyone can suggest anything that would be great.
My second point is on the rear seats. From the scrapyard I had 2 sets of 3 seats that all folded to make a bed. The seat by the right hand sliding door seemd to swivel but i took them out the doner van without taking much note of there workings. Bit silly really....
Basically I want to the fit new seats in the back but the original bolt hole points/small bars for seat clips are different and there is only points for one set.
I need some advice on this. Is it a case of making new mounts and welding them in place or is there any easier way that I don't know about, or should the seats from the doner van just need a bit of work seeing as they came out of a van that was excatly the same?
I'm sure this question has been addressed before and any help would be most appreciated. I feel like a small fish in the ocean at the moment.
Thanks
Paul
Not sure about the runners on the front seat...
Guess you might need to weld new points for the seat belt / create new mounting points if you need them to get the seat in. Having said that, whatever you do make sure its safe and bare in mind you might run into issues insurance / MOT wise if you do something dodgy. If you're not sure, might be an idea to take it to someone who specialises in putting van seats in - sometimes it makes sense to call in the pros when you ain't sure and where safety's concerned!
Hi guys
My work involves frequent shifting. I have recently shifted to a new city. I have special attachment to my first car so i always keep it with me Although i have two more cars but that is the most precious one. Auto shipping is really very tedious job. But thanks to a friend in the auto shipping business the work was done without any major hiccups.
