my window already has rubber on?

hello every one i have just brought a transit door (with hole for window to be fitted) with window but rubber and window are alreay attached together. i have read the instructions on fitting but noted that the rubber must be fitted to the dor first and then the window is to be fitted. does anyone know if rubber and window can be fitted together and slotted into the door, or will i have to remove the rubber from the window and attach it to the door first.???

L,

Hmmm, interesting.  I guess my first question would be 'how easy does it look to remove the rubber?'   I've only ever seen the type described on this website - I guess you could have a different type of window tho' - any marks or manufacturers names?  If you got it 2nd hand or from a scrappies then it was probably just taken out of an old van and I reckon you will have to take the rubber off to get it to fit your window space properly.  I guess, just try reversing the process...remove the beading (thin worm of rubber in the centre of the rubber mounting which creates a tight fit), this lets the rubber go slack, take the rubber off the glass, fit to window space, insert glass, re-fit beading.  I guess the problem will be if it has been sealed or glued at any point.  Let us know how you get on...
