Wood burner

Hi,

This issue came up in a previous post on installing heaters.  I have a mate who put a wood burner in their van.  All a bit rough and ready so I said I wouldn't recommend it, however if you did it all properly it could be kinda cool.   As, with others things in converting a campervan it can be worth just asking the same local tradesman you'ld speak to if you were installing a stove in your house.  The location is different but the issues will be the same.  Basically, you'll need to be careful with any surfaces that will come into contact with the stove and could get really hot.  I don't know what you could use instead of a concrete/granite plinth for the floor, possibly some good heat resistant tiles?  Depends on the design of the stove too, if you can get one on legs or a stand that will start to help dissapate heat from underneath.  No idea if you could just use a normal stove flue up through the roof of the van but guess you would need some kind of steel plate (as you would put in a normal chimney if you  had a stove).  Let us know how you get on.  Good luck....
