Bandvan, Building sleeping loft (FORD TRANSIT T300)

Hey,

My name is Kristoffer and I play in a punkband called Splitside.

We recently bought a Ford Transit T300, Its a high roof van much like a Sprinter, it has 9 seats (last row will be taken out). Im looking for ways to convert it into a mobile home for touring, ect.

First of we are thinking of building loftbeds in the rear of the van so that you can pack the full backline under it.

Is there a special way to do this?

What type of material do you use? concidering it will have the weight of a full backline in the back and then sleeping loft over it?

Does anyone have schematics for this type of design or a guide?

What is the best and most economical way to do this?

Thanks!

*I'll find a way to upload som pictures soon*

Band Campervan Conversion

Hi Kristoffer,

Loftbeds are definitely the way forward to make the most of the space.  The design depends a bit on whether you want them to be movable or if they can be permanent.  Permanent usually means you can put in better supports e.g. across the van allowing you to get away with the lightest base boards.  There was another post about this here http://www.campervanconversion.co.uk/roof-beds-board-thickness.  There aren't any band van schematics on the site (yet) but there have been other posts from bands looking to convert tour vans.  The one here might give you some ideas....http://www.campervanconversion.co.uk/node/32 Be great to see some photos!
