Re-doing leaky seals are a notoriously tricky thing to get right. My main experience is with windows rather than roofs, but the same will apply - The only way to do it is likely to be "Properly" - i.e. don't try and patch up the old seal (assuming its got pretty bad), if you want to get back to water-tightness you're probably going to have to strip everything right back, make sure all the surfaces are completely clean & free of grime/flakey bits, etc etc, then create a proper new seal.
