Leisure Battery Wiring.

I am totally lost when it comes to the electrics with "splt relays" & "diodes" & all the rest of it..to me it's double dutch.  So if I take the appropriate cable & connect it from the van battery to the leisure battery a) will this safely charge the leisure battery.  b) If I put a switch handy in the cabin to switch off this cable when I stop to camp, will the leisure battery be independent of the van battery but be charged again when I take off & switch it on ???. Please someone, somewhere, put me out of my misery so as I can finish the wiring....thank you in ? anticipation.......

The simplest and most effective solution is to buy a 'split-relay' box for about £20.   Once fitted this does the job without any further action or attention and is easy to fit  -  full and simple instructions are provided.   For two examples at just under £20 see:-

What you are suggesting might work, if I've understood you correctly, but it means continual 'fiddling about' by you and you might get it wrong and that could be disastrous.

Spend £20, fit the box [about the size of a packet of 20 cigarettes], and your difficulties are solved !

Sounds like you need an inverter 240vac-12vdc. What are you using the generator and plug in to run?
