Is that like an ex-council bus with wheelchair access etc? It would be useful to see some pics and have an idea of what you want to convert it for? If it's what I think it is though it gives you loads of good space, head room and windows. Firstly, I'd remove quite a few of the seats (and try to sell these on to help fund the conversion) and then it's up to you but I reckon you could fit in a lot of good features. Be interesting if anyone else on the forum has actually converted a welfare bus before. Have fun.
Hi folks I have converteed a ford transit welfare mini bus into a camper van. I did this about 3 years ago and had the dvla change the reg. doc and it is now a motor caravan. hi,, have bought p reg transit swb van converted to camper,,had 2 original factory side windows fitted,,1 of them is fitted in side door,, and 1 in each of 2 back doors..has mushroom vent on roof as is ex police van..has 2 side benches that make into double bed,,ex caravan,,storage underneath,,has double cupboard above and has small wardarobe fitted ,,it has gascooker / sink fitted ,, the gas bottle in purpose made cupboard 3ft away..had 2 elec sockets fitted to consumer box run.. i need to get logbook changed to camper at swansea as have just got camper insurance..can i take the elecs out and the gas cooker as i have always used a portable gas cooker out side /always camped/and was going to use solar battery lamps ,,and maybe an inverter for elecs or maybe on of those elec boards /like a trailerboard ,,and microwave,,and jut get some 2 new water containers for under sink..sorry to go on so long but insurance company asking for changed logbook now and gas /elec test certificates,,, but had said we have 3 months to sort it out,,hope some one can advise me,, thanks tj
