Retro Classic Library Bus converted to a Motor home
£3,000 ovno
This bus is a great size to live in or travel and has excellent glamping potential.
The engine is a perkins 6354 which has only 22,000 miles on the clock and pulls like a train.
Only one previous owner which was Cheshire Council, It used as a play bus until 2006 hence the low mileage and good condition.
Two Brand new batteries installed.
MOT till 23rd of August.
The solid Bailey coachbuilt body retains many of the original library bus features which are useful and quirky. The modular shelving struts throughout the vehicle are fantastic for creative hanging storage and several original sloping shelves are included - Your clutter will not slide off these as you drive around. The lovely wooden lockers and coat cupboards are tucked away and take up little space but create masses of storage and handy compartments. The original counter has a two ring stove and plenty of space for kitchen equipment.
The vehicle body is made of 18mm Marine ply and is in very good condition. The front section is aluminium so there are no rust issues. The fibreglass roof is sound. Inside the bus the walls are fitted with notice board material in between the library shelf struts which means it is easy to change the wall covering to your own taste simply using drawing pins and helps insulate the space. The fact that the body predominately square it is very easy to build or fit bespoke furniture. The items I have added have been built in a way that they can be easily removed or adapted. The roof has pop up sky lights (all working and watertight) and a translucent section making it fantastically light even tho there are no windows in the sides of the bus. This arrangement makes the interior much easier to adapt as any layout you want does not have to work around windows.
I have added a double bed, a pull out table which can seat 6, a wood burner (which does have corrosion), a simple very low tech sink area (with lift out bowl for emptying) and extra benches which fold out to make extra sleeping space although I never got as far finishing foam cushions for this – I must say the fold out system is not the most elegant design, but it does work and will sleep two children or an adult.
This bus can be lived in or used as a camper as it is, could be easily adapted to your own requirements or taken to the next level. The boring work is done and it is ripe for personal customisation.
There is an eberspacher diesel heater installed. The fan works but I never got the heating element working. I have been told it may just need a filter, but I never investigated this. I was also told that the fan is excellent for keeping the vehicle cool in the summer although I never realised this when I lived in it! (I always just opened the doors)
This bus is registered as a motorcaravan/private HGV.
Please note that it is 7.5 tonne so can be driven on an ordinary car licence issued before 1997
