I fitted a roof vent (replacing a hole in the roof from the previous owners attempt) a couple of weeks back to our LT28 campervan which has an uneven/ribbed roof. We also had to make an interior bracket to secure the vent to as the roof is really thin!
I would say, if at all possible, try to ensure that the surface on the front and back of the vent are even - so have the 'rib' in the middle of the vent. We did not have a lot of choice where are vent was going (due to existing hole), but i cut and shaped a wooden support for the dip in the roof and secured the vent through this and through into the roof of the van - hope that makes sense.

Then lots of sealant!
