Insurance Adrian Flux

I bought a VW T5 panel van 6 months ago to convert it to a camper. I took out insurance with Adrian Flux and told them that I was going to convert the van. They said that was fine and that I could make any modifications I liked as long as I told them sratight away. The first thing I did was to put in windows and additional seats in the back which fold flat to make part of the base of a bed. I informed Adrian Flux and they said that they could no longer insure me because my policy didn't cover the installation of seats. It does not specify this anywhere on my policy documents and was not mentioned when I took out the policy. I now can't find anyone to insure the van as it has been modified but is not yet classed as a comper. Does anyone else have amy experience of this?

2Gether Insurance re: Insurance Adrian Flux

Hi Jennifernia,

About your trouble finding an insurance company to cover a van which has a new bed and table but not the full camper conversion...I am having exactly that issue (mine is an RHD ex minibus VW T25 converted with 2nd hand seats from a LHD mulitvan) and have called round many, many insurance companies. As it is, it is neither a car/MPV or a camper! There is one company however,  2Gether Insurance. Anyone else had any experience of this company? Reviews are mostly good ones but there was one person who was given a lower cover on their policy than their original, on renewal who was unhappy with their service. I guess each policy needs to be thoroughly checked. What I am concerned about is being squeezed into a corner and not having any competitor to go to if renewal prices are increased considerably in the second year. Would be good to hear anyone else's opinion on this insurance company or even anyone with a part conversion? Otherwise, we are just going to have to put the water/cooking/storage in as well and call it a camper.
