Need thoughts on a couple of ideas.

Hi, i've recently decided to invest in a camper/caravan and realised they are VERY expensive!  so found out about the idea of conversions but also farely costyl.

I was wondering if i could buy a fairly cheap estate, or light van and do the bare minimum to make it possibe to sleep in for 3 nights max. (just sleeping not living in.)

Has anyone heard of or have any idea about costs and if it's even possible?

Cheers,

Mark.

Estate car conversion

M, totally doable with an estate car or little van.  I'v slept in an old Renault Savanna Estate but it is small, not much headroom and lots of windows to cover.  A little van is ideal - a berlingo or kangoo or the like.  It'll give you more space, you won't have to take out any back seats and there are just the cab windows so pretty private.  You can just put in a simple bed base above the wheel arches.  Sleep on top and store stuff underneath.  Perfectly comfy for a night or two.  If you can curtain off the drivers cab you could even get away without window mats, insulation or a heater (just needs a good sleeping bag!).  It really depends if you need more than 2 seats.  If it is just for you, then you could put in some cupboards down one side, get insulation in and make it snug, R
