Was browsing today for the 3mm plywood for lining the van with... Didn't realize how expensive it was per sheet and most places dont sell the 3/3.6mm and start with the 6mm. Hardboard is much more affordable, would this not do the job effectively???

Hi mate,
Stay as far away from hardboard as you can. I'm a Joiner and hardboard is only any use for templates and wardrobe backing / drawer bases. it wont take any fixings and absorbs moisture and becomes soft and soggy. I've just ripped out my T4 of all its old lining and it was all cheap hardboard.
I'm afraid the expensive 6mm ply is the way to go, with a 9 or 12mm ply for the floor. even the 3.6mm ply wont stand up to a camper conversion.
Cheers
Rich
