I have never been on a Camper-van OR Caravan holiday BUT I got the notion to convert a Van to a Motorhome, what you folks call a 'Stealth Camper'.
I bought two books... 'Build your own Motorcaravan' and 'The Motorcaravan Manual', I made sketches of my basic plan.
I wanted to get something big, like an Iveco Jumbo van but ended up with a 2001 Fiat Ducato 13 sear Mini-Bus with only 55K genuine miles on the clock, I have known the vehicle from new. The intention still is to keep it looking like a Mini-bus as far as possible, semi-stealth as I can't afford too many camping sites nights.
I had a 1999 Ford Galaxy Ghia with swivel seats, which may yet be part of the project. I bought an old Swift caravan as a 'Donor',
From the Caravan, I have usable....
Sink/drainer
Cramer 3-Ring Cooker,
Gaz Oven (a Maxol Monte Carlo 2000 Built-in Oven).
Electrolux RM212F 3 way Fridge,
12v/Gas 'Cascade 2' Water-heater,
Thetford C2 flush Toilet,
Lots of Bed-Cushions.
Only now do I start researching on the Internet and found "deepred", who had converted a New Ducato.
This was as close to what I want inside my van as I could possibly get. As far as camper-vans go, I think they have it nigh on PERFECT.
I bought most of the other components used by 'DeepRed'.
