i've been researching offroad base vehicle's for a family of 4, i'm starting to come to the conclusion that the vehicle i want doesn't exist!
The unimog or other ex millitery type truck would be ideal but fuel efficiency and top speed take it out of the equation.
mercedes make the sprinter as 4x4 but very rare in long wheel base and ground clearance is the same as a normal sprinter. (anything smaller than LWB is too small)
am i asking too much? do i need to find a friendly mechanic that can perform magic?

im considering a 101 landy forward control, too small for a 4man real camper but ok for 2 at a squeeze. planning on using awning tents etc. just need to find one already stripped (couldnt gut an original) you could make a custom body on the general service version?
