Second 12VDC radio

Hi

Have had a "Transit campervan" for many years now and have solved most of the issues, but would welcome any info re install a 2nd 12 vdc radio to run from leisure battery (110AmPH)

1.Can I "split" existing aerial between the two radios ?

2.Inline fuse / rating ??

3.decent-ish speakers (Love Americana & Norah Jones )

4.If second aerial whats best for Scotland / Radio 4 (news & Weather)

Best Regards to all those who love the outdoors & Transit vans.

PS Give the OBAN campsite a miss..they dont like Transit vans..even with windows.

Hi swagman. I cant say i've

Hi swagman. I cant say i've ever split a vehicles radio before, but, you can split the aerial in your home many ways so i'm sure this wouldnt be a problem. You would need to check the amperage of the new stereo, on the box or back of the stereo itself?

However, just as a suggestion, would it not be worth running a power line from the leisure battery (fused of course) into a switch along with the 12v from the vehicle battery? that way you could switch between power sources as you please. If you installed an led switch it would be a clear indicator of what battery it is currently running from. There would obviously be a bit of work involved, scotch locks as a quick fix or soldering for a proper one with heatshrink but at least you wouldn't have to split the aerial and install more speakers. Just an idea...
