Task Write-up:
As the van came with an Eberspacher D4 diesel heater I removed it, took it apart, replaced the gaskets and bought a controller for it (the original had been removed... With snips!) and got it working and blowing out large amounts of hot air.
The next job is to get the box it was secured in under the van repaired as it has started to rust through in a number of areas. Then I can refit it and reroute the internal piping to feed the hot air where we want it.
