To come up with a plan for the van I considered three main things:
1.How much space is there to play with.
2.What will I be using the van for.
3.what do I want in the van.
The above sketch is a bit ruff but once you see it next to the final bed design its almost the same.
Point 1 = HARDLY ANY SPACE.... well it is a combo. the distinct lack of space meant I had to try and be clever in my design and from taking the time to see what room i've got i was able to make some pretty good plans to utilize the space for my needs.
So to answer point 2 I decided that I would be using the van to carry kayaks, mountain bikes, 2 people and kit on expeditions and trips all over the place, however also have to ability to carry normal van things if needed.
To answer point 3 i decided i would want a bed system (6.5ft), cooker space, seating, and privacy curtain. The bed system in the back was designed for either 1 person or 2 people, but still allowing for storage underneath. also the system means a 5ft8" bed can be set up without moving the front seats and a 6ft5" bed if you lean the seats forward and fold out the extension.
