Hello all, hope your all doing well
My searching found this forum and it seems just the job for a place to come for ideas and help!
I'm trying to work out what to use to line my camper in for the walls, in respect to the cosmetic finish
I thought about using MDF board, and filling/seam sealing the joins and painting the whole lot in 2k, not really sure its going to look all that though to be honest. I'm a sprayer by trade, and its not the finish I'm worried about its the fact its painted...
I've tried to look for some acrylic sheeting of some kind, but its all just uber offensive colours in a gloss finish...
Then my only other thought was lino, but its abit heavy!
Any ideas as to what I could use would be fantastic and really appreciated.
Hiya
Take a look at this, its called veltrim. A buddy of mine used this on his conversion and i'm actually really jealous! its like very thin carpet but the effect is pretty darn good.
i used cheap carpet from carpet right but it looks a bit shoddy and isnt so easy to work with. As soon as i've worked out that my van works i'll be changing to the above stuff.
i've used lino for the floor of mine and it really seems to finish it off
hope this is of some use
Paul
hi there
i found it best to use wallboard from o learys depending on your budget they are easy to trim and cut come in different colours they do cost a bit but well worth it £40 a sheet 8x4 good luck
Hi, I used 'frontrunner' carpet. Very soft, pliable and easy to work with. Keep the grain running the same way and you wont see the joins. This product loves curves.
Used to insulate and prevents condensation in yachts.
I used F2 glue to attach it to the walls. Both easily sourced from yacht chandlers.
I have also used velt, but 10mx 2m for my Vivaro LWB, and i am mor than pleased. Easyto work with and gives a verry profecional look. Regards Mario

Hi
my wife and I have decided to convert a van, havent bought one yet, just doing the research at the moment.
I'm sure i'll have plenty of questions when the time comes.
so thank you in advance for all your help! :)
If you have to make your mind up regarding the best van for your needs and how to convert / design the van interior, best advice is : make a list of your priorities.
- how many sleeping in the van at a camp trip
- how long those camping trips would be? ( long weekends or full 2 weeks or...)
- do you use the camper also in colder month or for Scotland / Wales ... ( where the nights also in summer can be a bit nippy)
- are you going for camping in UK only or also abroad ?
- do you use the van for camping only or also as day to day transport / work?
- do you want the van to be registered with DVLA as "Motor home" or a stealth van ( un noticed from any one if you stay somewhere over night at a nice spot and not using campsites all time) ?
- and of course, the all important budged ( bear in mind, for a self build interior you need about a min of £1000 including the insulation up to £7000 with all mod con and professional interior, depending your needs and Gadgets you want to fit in)
I am using our van also for my work ( self employed Gledhill Boiler engineer, doing repair and service work) , I also have to pick up my adult kits ( no grand Kitts yet / thanks Kitts/ from Airports once or twice a year and we ( my partner and me)use our van for max 7 days hiking / camp trips, course we also have a caravan ( ABBY GTS 27 ft) at Exeter in storage, we use for the main holydays in the Dartmoor aria. We also used to tent camping for many years ( since the 1980's), so we was already kitted out with a lot of camping gear to use for the van.

Hi Folks,
We find the best campervan lining carpet is the stuff we sell in our shop - see Flexi Lining Carpet with adhesive
It's really nice to the touch, creates a mega professional finish and because it has a bit of stretch and is really flexible, fitting it is dead easy whereas alot of other carpets are quite hard to work around corners etc.
