I am in the planing stages of converting a citroen relay. Whilst I will tackle many things some I will not. For instance I am confident on insulating and carpeting the ply and the same with the floor. However, I have a local mechanic who will be doing the windows. One on the sliding door and one at the kitchen area. Should I get the window fitted before insulating and carpeting. Various conversion sites do the carpeting first but in their photos with the windows being installed its bare metal i.e before lining?? Please help. Thanks
Hi, I'd do windows as pretty much the first thing. You could put them in at the end but the main down side is the process will generate LOTS of tiny metal filings, these get everywhere and you want to be able to easily clean them all up after fitting the window. It's a good idea to plan out any electrics, where the second battery is going, heater etc and where your water or gas pipe will go too (if you are having these in your van) before moving onto insulation and carpeting. Good luck.
